Question

I have been meditating some years, but without the Buddhas instructions in mind. Several months ago I realized the potential in this meditation and began to practice as I have read about. (I have never received any formal instruction). I have been so happy with what is taking place I am afraid that I will become complacent with my new happiness and become satisfied with my ignorance. Is it essential to meditate for a certain period of time? I do about 1/2 hour 2 times daily. On sundays I extend it to an hour sitting. This morning I was overwhelmed by the thought of the many hours that were stretched out ahead of me and it created a bad sense of being impossible. I sat even though the feeling to discontinue seemed palpable and undeniable. Is gritting it out through these things advised? Or am I creating some well of confused energy which will lead to further delusion? Thank You. I am enthralled with your music!

Why do some practice zazen, while others don't?

I cannot understand why I've been drawn to zazen, 10 years ago, whereas my friends or my relatives are in no way interested in the practice. . . What drives people to sit in zazen and think it's only evident and natural, whereas others don't give a damn about it? Are they already awakened?

Loneliness

I've started a spiritual quest years ago and I realize that I've progressively departed from everything and everybody. Though my practice brought me deeper understanding, I do not feel as connected to life and to others. What should I do?

Master Kosen, Some people have an innate motivation and need little effort to practice, while for others, it is just the other way round. How can one develop a strong motivation? Thanks.
